12 Years and Under Solo Championship of Scotland

 

Dalmellington Band is delighted to announce that a young cornet player from our junior band has won the 12 Years and Under Solo Championship of Scotland.  Rebecca Wilson from Troon beat off stiff competition to lift the coveted title in Livingston in February this year.

 

This is the third year in a row that the title has been won by a Dalmellington Junior Band Soloist, as the award was also won by our cornet player - Rachael Jones in 2008 and 2009.  In addition to lifting the top prize in the section, we also lifted another prize as Dalmellington Junior Band Cornet Soloist – Heather Cairns lifted the 3rd prize.

 

We are delighted to have three of the best young prospects in Scotland in our junior band and we look forward to them progressing into the senior band in due course!

 

In addition to the solo awards, our 12 Years and Under Quartet won 2nd prize in the ensembles competition later that day.  Our prize winning quartet included:  Heather Cairns, Rachael Jones, Ewan Mitchell and Rebecca Wilson.
