JUNIOR BAND IN MANCHESTER – BRONZE AWARD!

 

A number of parents and supporters travelled with our Junior Band to Oldham on Saturday 9th April for an overnight stay prior to the band competing in the British Youth Championships in Manchester on Sunday 10th April.

 

Our youngsters had a smashing two days and performed to a high standard in the Senior Section of the competition, achieving a well deserved “Bronze Award”.

 

The band’s conductor – Ian Taylor was well pleased with the band’s performance and he looks forward to a few more tries in the same section as his young players mature in the coming years!

 

The weekend was really well organised, with no problems from our youngsters ….. they were in “great form” over the two days and, our very sincere thanks goes to our Vice President – David Kay for making sure everything was well planned for a “trouble free” weekend!

 

 

JUNIOR BAND HEAD FOR MANCHESTER!

 

Dalmellington Junior Band will take part in the 2011 National Youth Championships in Manchester on Sunday 10th April and we have bought our young players a full set of walking-out tops, with their logo emblazoned on the back, to show off this great group of talented youngsters.

 

 

Ian Taylor will conduct the band in the Senior Section of the championships and they have been working extremely hard on the test-piece and concert items required for the event. Vice President-David Kay and the Parent/Player Group (junior band organisers) have tried to organise an interesting and entertaining weekend for our youngsters and they will stay over, along with some parents and band officials, in Oldham on the Saturday night and travel the short distance to the contest venue in Manchester in time to perform in their section.

 

 

We all wish them every success at this prestigious event and we are, once more, very proud that they have the talent to be able to compete at this high level, following their development in recent years.  Well done to Ian and his team of tutors for achieving this high standard!
